How to arrange for the post office to redeliver your parcel after a missed delivery.

One day you go home, and see one, maybe two red notice papers like above, left at your front door. They are attempted delivery notice cards, indicating that the post office attempted delivery of your parcel when you weren’t home (郵便物等ご不在連絡票). How do you do to have them deliver it to you again on another day? (If you don’t contact the post office, your parcel will be kept there for a week and then returned to the sender’s address). in this article LearnJapanesedaily will tell you how to Arrange for the post office to redeliver your parcel after a missed delivery through internet. Step 1: Open the page

Go to the link http://www.post.japanpost.jp/index.html. The page should look like this:

What you need to do is click at the link circled number 2 (right next to the red arrow) 再配達のお申し込み:

You then will be linked to this window:

Step 2: Fill in information

Scroll down and fill in necessary information:

Number 1: Postal code of where you live – if you don’t remember, it is the digits marked number one on the picture shown to the right (click to zoom in).

Number 2: Parcel ID – marked number two.

Number 3: Date the parcel was sent – marked number three.

Step 3: Registration form

To continue, scroll down, fill in the registration form:

Number 1: Type of parcel – review the parcel delivery notice and choose the right one. (in this case, mine is number 3 ( 簡易・記録)

Number 2: Place you want your parcel to be redelivered – the simplest choice is your house (first option), other options are: Workplace, post office which is responsible for your delivery, other post offices.

Next, click the button marked number 3. You will be linked to a window like bellow.

Step 4: Finish

Choose the date (No. 1) and time you want the parcel to be redelivered.

Number 2: Your phone number – 3 digits for the first rectangular box , 4 digits each for the next two . If you don’t have one, use someone else’s. (normally the post office will deliver the parcel directly to your house, they seldom call, unless when you are not home).

Type in your name right bellow (written on the parcel delivery notice).

Number 3, 4: Type in your email and confirm again.

Number 5: Click there to verify.

Check all the information once again, if everything is correct, submit the form (申し込む)

Check your email and you will see a confirmation email verifying your arrangement
