JLPT N5 Grammar lesson 8. Hi everyone! In this article, Learn Japanese daily will introduce to you the JLPT N5 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Grammar structure 36 :

~に~

Formation :

~N + に~

Explanation :

For, from
Verbs such asあげます、おしえます need someone to do the actions, we putに behind the object.
Verbs such asもらいます、ならいます indicates actions from the ones that receive the actions.
If the subject is the one receives the action, addに behind the noun indicating the one that takes takes the action. To objects that are organization, we have to useから instead ofに

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.友達(ともだち)にお金(かね)を貸(か)してあげた。
I lent my money to my friend.

2.マイ先生(せんせい)に教(おし)えてもらった。
I’m being taught by Mrs Mai.

Grammar structure 37 :

~に~回

Formation :

A period of time に~回

Explanation :

To do something how many times in a particular period of time.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.一日(いちにち)に三回(さんかい)薬(くすり)を飲(の)んでください
Drink meds 3 times a day.

2.一年(いちねん)に2回(にかい)海外旅行(かいがいりょこう)をする。
I travel abroad twice a year.

Grammar structure 38 :

~のが~

Formation :

Clause (S+V; sometimes contracted to be left with only) + のが~

Explanation :

This pattern is used to verbalize nouns.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.私(わたし)は絵(え)を描(か)くのが好(す)きだ。
I really like to paint.

2.母(はは)は料理(りょうり)を作(つく)るのが上手(じょうず)です。
My mother cooks really well.

Grammar structure 39 :

~ので~

Formation :

V (Short form)+ので
Aい+ので
Aな+ので
N+な+ので

Explanation :

Because….
Used to express a matter of course. Using ので will make the sentence flow better.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.きれいなので、買(か)いたいです。
Because it’s pretty, I want to buy it.

2.お金持(かねも)ちなので、なんでも買(か)えます。
Because one is rich, they can buy anything.

Grammar structure 40 :

~のなかで~が一番

Formation :

~ N + のなかで~が一番

Explanation :

Out of….the best.
Used to range over a number of things, people (at least 3) to compare.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.スポーツのなかで、サッカーが一番(いちばん)好(す)きです。
Out of all kinds of sports, I like soccer the best.

2.画家(がか)のなかで、ピカソが一番(いちばん)好(す)きです。
Out of all painters, I like Picaso the best.

  • some transaltion are missing in the examples (i.e. example of grammar structure 6),
    and some other are WRONG (example of grammar structure 9: 行きます = I go (usually) and not I went).
    Very bad!!!

    A list of little grammar structures is indeed very helpful to study o/

    Just in the phrase 木の下に猫がいった, i think it translates to “There ‘was’ a cat under the tree”

    Just a little thing, in the grammar structure 1, example 2
    先生 の 英語 あもりがわからない
    Sensei no eigo a mori ga wakaranai means “i don’t understand the english teacher”
